St. Louis Welcomes The Tour of Missouri

St. Louis is geared up for the 2008 Tour of Missouri. On Sunday, September 14, the champions will cross the finish line in the shadows of the Gateway Arch, but there will be two days of fun and activities for spectators to enjoy.

The Family Fun Festival will take place at Soldier's Memorial in downtown on Saturday, September 13, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. There will be plenty of bike-friendly parking and free smoothies powered by Trailnet's special "Bike Blender." Kids can learn how to safely ride their bikes with a visit to the Kid's Safety on Bikes Program, and everyone can have experts assist with finding the perfect fit for their helmets at St. John's Helmet fitting.

Food and beverage booths will be located throughout the festival grounds on Saturday and at key points along the route on race day. There will be live music to enjoy, along with tons of bike-related activities and events, including REI's PEAK Pack presentations. PEAK stands for Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids, and the presentations are a great way for youngsters to learn about their impact on the environment.

Also on Saturday, local cyclists can get a feel for what the pros will be doing on Trailnet's Racecourse Ramble Bike Ride. The Saturday morning ride allows amateurs to experience the St. Louis leg of the Tour of Missouri's course.
